Introductory Review Examination of the Cranial Nerves

چکیده
The cranial nerves facilitate a diverse array of functions, including facial expression, vision, swallowing and hearing. This review aims to provide a pragmatic and comprehensive introduction to the examination of the cranial nerves, with particular emphasis on the examination routine. For a more detailed discussion of the detection and interpretation of the signs of neurological illness in the crnial nerves readers are directed to The JCE’s Expert Review entitled ‘Examination of the Cranial Nerves’[1]. This article draws upon many sources of information, including standard textbooks on neurology, neuroanatomy and clinical examination,[2-16] as well as published articles.[1,17-21] It is consistent throughout with both ‘The Principles of Clinical Examination’,[17] and the authors’ clinical experience. Expert Review Examination of the Paediatric Cranial Nerves
The paediatric cranial nerve examination is complicated by the fact that the patient may not be able to cooperate fully with the examiner. This necessitates the use of a clearly structured and age appropriate approach to ensure that important clinical signs are elicited. This review aims to present a reproducible schema for examination of cranial nerves in neonates, infants and children. Some i...

In this study the cranial nerves development of H. huso are explained from 1 to 54-days-old (1, 3, 6, 15, 21 and 54 days). Despite all the researches on fish brain, there are no study on nerves evolution on H. huso during their larvae life. For this research 40 samples of larvae H. husowere obtained (from each age, about six samples were selected). The specimens were ...

Neurolymphomatosis is a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by infiltration of peripheral nerves, nerve roots, plexus and cranial nerves by malignant lymphocytes. This report presents positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT)imaging with 2-deoxy-2-18F-fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) in 3 cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with nerve infiltration, including one newly d...
متن کاملMacrostructure of the Cranial Cervical Ganglion in the River Buffalo (Bubalus Bubalis)
The autonomic nervous system consists of a vast range of nerves and ganglions. Anatomical studies have demonstrated that the sympathetic innervations of the head and neck are affected by the neurons that ramify from the cranial cervical ganglion (CCG). The CCG is the end of the sympathetic cervical trunk, which runs with the vagal nerve during its cervical course. In this study sixteen adult (2...
